Companies House, the government agency, has announced that they have deployed the ABBYY FlexiCapture Server electronic document management system to automate key document handling and paper-based business processes, with the aim to reduce the high volume of paper currently being handled daily.
The software has been integrated into their existing document workflow system, enabling the reduction of administration costs and time involve in handling paper-based documents. The new electronic data input is from a variety of sources – email, contacts handling and customer services – and the new FlexiCapture solution delivers a single point of entry and transforms the different documents and forms automatically into business-ready data that can be easily integrated into workflows.
Carl Allen, Enterprise Architect at Companies House, said: “We have also built an application for barcode identification to speed up the workflow process. Once a document is scanned into the system, the reader delegates the task to the appropriate department for handling, and archives the file on our servers, saving us both time and money by reducing admin-intensive tasks.”
The ABBYY FlexiCapture document management system includes a range of pre-built utilities and tools to allow the easy ‘zoning’ of documents and forms, and provides the capability to define templates, so that Companies House can achieve their aim of 100% digital take-up.
Allen concluded: “We needed a flexible solution that could easily integrate with our existing core systems and which gave a high recognition rate.”
