Fortinet has launched a cloud version of FortiGate, their network security platform on the AWS (Amazon Web Services) Marketplace. The latest version has been designed, according to Fortinet, to help customers “better mitigate blind spots by implementing critical network security controls” including intrusion prevention, bi-directional stateful firewalling and VPN in VPCs (virtual private clouds).
In the past, Fortinet has launched other SaaS (security-as-a-service) solutions – FortiAnalyzer-VM, FortiManager-VM and FortiWeb-VM – on AWS. Their cloud-based versions of these and the latest FortiGate application helps customers deploy consolidated network security to protect virtual infrastructure, as well as improve visibility and control within a multitenant, virtualised cloud environment.
FortiGate-VM allow customers to quickly scale secure AWS to protect virtual infrastructures. Vice-President of Marketing at Fortinet, John Maddison, stated: “We have a number of customers who have requested we port FortiGate-VM onto AWS, and we’re happy to report that the technology is ready today.”
Head of Global Technology Alliances at AWS, Brian Matsubara, added: “By bringing their security platform to AWS, Fortinet is providing scalable network security controls to customers around the world.”
