Nuance Communications, Inc., has launched a new version of their document capture software for multifunction printers. eCopy ShareScan 5.2 now incorporates a new folder watching service that’s ‘decoupled’ from MFPs (multifunction printers). The new service has been designed to enable document capture workflows without the need for an MFP; the client-server software architecture will consolidate and centralise electronic and paper document from MFPs in law firms.
Workflows and document capture will be possible from various sources including low-end A4 capture devices and copiers, standalone scanners, documents captured via smartphones and tablets, as well as folders stored in the cloud. The new folder watching service allows low-end devices convert captured documents into alternative formats in order to facilitate legal document workflows by sending documents to the eCopy folder, and server-based applications are able to automatically convert the document or carry out another function, such as move the document to another location or email it to a colleague.
eCopy ShareScan 5.2 will be available to version 5 customers and via channel partners.
