Nutanix Inc. has announced the upgrade for their hyper-converged storage system software; it now includes deduplication for data that is stored on memory or flash tiers, and they’ve also provided beta support for Microsoft Hyper-V.
Their Virtual Computing Platforms include storage nodes, networking and hypervisors, and servers, all built into one box and using NOS (Nutanix Operating System). The new NOS version 3.5 incorporates the Nutanix Elastic Deduplication Engine, a software-based dedupe that helps to reduce data across all tiers within the virtual computing platform system. Nutanix claims that their dedupe can hold as much as ten times the working set data in memory and flash for large working set applications, such as the virtual desktop infrastructure deployments.
