Leaders in mobile capture devices and productivity solutions, Document Capture Technologies (DCT), has announced the launch of SimpleECM, a new business created to deliver enterprise content management (ECM) capabilities to organisations including monolithic ECM platforms delivered via standard APIs (application programming interfaces) and cloud-based services.

SimpleECM has been built for the cloud and includes APIs that will enable the incorporation of capture devices directly into web applications, document management functions including form processing and OCR via an on-demand subscription model, accounting and CRM, all of which help to simplify the user experience.

Karl Etzel, President and CEO of DCT, explained: “Small and medium-sized companies have not always been able to take advantage of the workflow automation and content management tools used by larger companies to increase efficiency.  SimpleECM lets application developers and systems integrators deliver these efficiencies to a broader base of customers.  Helping small and mid-market enterprises compete with the big guys is what motivates us.”

The SimpleECM Mobile SDK delivers a robust capture functionality that extends an organisation’s workflows to the mobile environment, and DCT also offers manufacturers of devices the SimpleECM interop programme that makes third-party hardware available to all developers using the JavaScript capture API.

Harvey Spencer from Harvey Spencer Associates, added: “The ECM market is transitioning to more ad-hoc, distributed capture and this coincides with the broad-based shift towards cloud services and mobility.  Integrating capture at the front end of business processes delivers the greatest benefit. As more companies realise this value, capture will become an integral part of business processes and workflows.”
